Martha Mosoahle backs Botswana for historic 2027 Netball World Cup qualification

Mosoahle, who recently guided the Free State Crinums to the 2026 Telkom Netball League title, will lead Botswana at the Africa World Cup qualifiers in Kenya in September.

The South African-born coach says she accepted the Botswana job because she wanted challenges exactly like this. 

"Yes, definitely, I think the motive was clear when they brought me into Botswana, it was definitely to qualify. We're working towards that, I have done the unthinkable before. I think I've done a couple and I'm going to hang on to that, just hard work and what I know that I can do to change things," Mosoahle said.

"So, I'm hoping for that luck again if you call it that but yeah, we're working towards the qualifier and we are working very hard, that's why we are here this week, just to build. The qualifiers are in the next month or so and it's really in our mouths and mind to say, this is definitely what we want to achieve."

Mosoahle, who is currently guiding Botswana at the Spar Senior Netball Championships in Cape Town, says one of her proudest achievements with the University of Cape Town has given her belief that major goals can be achieved with hard work and discipline.

She says that success serves as a valuable reference point for what she hopes to accomplish with Botswana at the upcoming qualifiers.

"I think the recent one was at USSA, I mean when I took over at CUT, they were ranked number 30 of all the universities. We started from the C section, went to the B, went to the A and immediately went to top eight and now we are in the top five. I mean for me that's something that I will never take for granted," she added.
