Louis Oosthuizen confirms LIV Golf exit

Louis Oosthuizen has confirmed that he will not re-sign with LIV Golf for its next chapter, LIV 2.0, opting instead to return to the DP World Tour in January 2027.

Oosthuizen is stepping down from his playing role and captaincy at Southern Guards GC, the all-South African team he has led since LIV Golf's inception.

In a media statement published by Southern Guards GC on Wednesday, Oosthuzien explained his decision.

"Five years ago, I made one of the best decisions of my life, moving away from the traditional golf world and into something very special with LIV Golf and Southern Guards GC. I'm the biggest supporter of team golf and always will be. Golf needs more of it," said Oosthuizen

"I realised I have a lot more in me, and my biggest fear was that the schedule on LIV 2.0 would be tough to manage," he explained.

"I feel I have a few more years of good, competitive golf left in me, and the only way to be really sharp and competitive is through a schedule I control."

Oosthuizen is set to compete at the 65th Link Hong Kong Open, which takes place from 22–25 October 2026 at the historic Hong Kong Golf Club in Fanling.

His return to the DP World Tour is scheduled for January 2027.
