The elite women’s race will start at 9:45am, followed by the men’s race 15 minutes later.
Both the men’s and women’s winners will walk away with R20 000 each from a total prize purse of R147 200.
More, who trains alongside Glenrose Xaba and Karabo Mailula under coach Violet Semenya in Tshwane, told SABC Sport that she is motivated to perform well against a competitive field.
“Hosting the race in Joburg is exciting because the city has an incredible running culture and energy. Bringing the event here gives more athletes and fans the opportunity to be part of the experience,” said More.
The 23-year-old believes the new race series will help young runners gain exposure, confidence, and experience to compete in bigger events next year.
“It allows us to showcase local talent on a bigger stage. I entered because I want to challenge myself and test my fitness against some of the best runners locally and on the continent. The atmosphere at Boxer races is always electric — it’s a great platform to measure progress and aim for a new personal best,” she explained.
More added that the lucrative prize money will serve as extra motivation for runners to bring their best performances.
“It shows how serious and prestigious this event is. It motivates everyone to give their all while rewarding hard work and dedication. My goal is to stay consistent from start to finish, execute my race plan, and enjoy the experience. I’ll be aiming for a personal best, but above all, I want to run a smart race and finish proud of my effort,” she concluded
