Ethan Peters previews his eagerly anticipated pro-debut

19-year-old undefeated amateur champion, Ethan Peters, begins his professional journey on November 29 as one of the hottest heavyweight prospects in South Africa.

In an exclusive conversation with SABC Sport, the young lion describes boxing as a peaceful practice and something he loves doing.

“I like fighting, what can I say. I find boxing to be peaceful and the best outlet for me to showcase what I’m all about.”
Inspired by legends like Muhammad Ali, George Foreman, and Evander Holyfield, Ethan Peters is renowned for his ability to finish his opponents at the amateur level, but he says he is more than ready to unleash that knockout power on the professional stage.
“I’m very excited to be making my debut on November 29 on a stacked Golden Gloves card at Emperor’s Palace.
“My opponent is also making his pro-debut, so I’m looking forward to putting on a show against a fellow debutant.”

Peters, who celebrates his 19th birthday today, trains out of Brian Mitchell Boxing Academy in Edenvale. He believes he is at the right place to further his career and to learn more about the sweet science.
“There are three world champions in the gym, so that obviously inspires you to want to reach those peaks. I’ve grown so much ever since I joined this gym, and it is here where I do most of my fitness training and pad or bag work. I often find myself travelling to find heavyweights I can spar with,” explained the six-foot-six, 105 kg giant.

Peters has fought 11 times in his career so far, with 10 of those fights ending via TKO.

Many of the current active and former fighters have high hopes for Peters, but his performance on November 29 will prove if he can handle the bright lights and the pressure of professional heavyweight boxing.
