Resurgent Daniil Medvedev claims 22nd ATP Tour title at Brisbane International

Daniil Medvedev overcame Brandon Nakashima 6-2, 7-6(1) to win the Brisbane International title at the ATP 250 event on Sunday.

The Russian star had dropped just one set on his way to Sunday's final ,where he continued his imperious run to win in straight sets.

The match was dominated by powerful baseline exchanges. Nakashima showed true grit to save two match points late in the second set to force a tiebreaker, but Medvedev regrouped to fly through the tiebreaker unchallenged.

Having travelled to Australia without his wife and two kids, the former world number one dedicated the victory to them.

"I want to dedicate this to my family," the 29-year-old said during the trophy ceremony.

"They couldn't make it to Australia, it is a bit too far guys, about 23 hours from where I live and with two young kids it is not easy.

"I decided to play this tournament and we thought we would be coming all together but we stuck to the decision and my daughter had a birthday when I was here, so I dedicate it to her first birthday. This [trophy] is a bit too heavy for her though."

From September 2023 to June 2025, Medevev lost six consecutive finals, including a five-set epic in the 2024 Australian Open final aginst Jannik Sinner. Now, he's won his last twp, with the most recent title coming at the Almaty Open in Kazakhstan n October 2025.
