Before a ball had even been struck, Osaka once again turned heads with her now trademark fashion statement. The Japanese star arrived on court wearing an elegant all-white ceremonial-style kimono featuring cherry blossom details, the latest in a series of eye-catching outfits that have made her one of the style stars of this year's championships.
The 14th seed needed just 65 minutes to dismantle Kasatkina on Court One, producing another emphatic display that underlined her growing comfort on grass - a surface that has often proved challenging for the four-time Grand Slam champion.
Osaka had never advanced beyond the third round in her previous five Wimbledon main-draw appearances, making her latest achievement another milestone in a season that has seen her steadily regain her best form. Less than five weeks ago, she also reached the fourth round of the French Open for the first time.
She mixed power and precision from the outset against Kasatkina, breaking in the second game and quickly racing into a double-break advantage. Osaka hit only six unforced errors in the opening set and lost just five points on her serve as she surged to a one-set lead.
Kasatkina, whose ranking has dropped to world number 65 amid a prolonged battle with a nagging hip injury, briefly threatened a comeback after recovering an early break in the second set. But Osaka immediately regained control, winning the next three games and eventually sealing victory in style on her second match point.
The result sets up a blockbuster fourth-round encounter against either world number one Aryna Sabalenka or former French Open champion Jelena Ostapenko, with Osaka potentially getting an opportunity to avenge her loss to Sabalenka in the last 16 at Roland Garros.
"I'm really happy. In my career I'd never won on this court. I'm just glad to have made a really good memory here," Osaka said.
"I've played a lot of matches on grass over the last few weeks. I'm feeling really confident. I hope I'm able to get further and further."
