Marta Kostyuk and Linda Noskova both reach maiden Wimbledon semifinals

Marta Kostyuk beat Jasmine Paolini 6-3, 6-2 to reach her maiden Wimbledon semifinal, where she will face Linda Noskova who dispatched Elise Mertens 6-3, 7-5.

The 24-year-old Kostyuk was in complete control of her quarterfinal clash against Paolini, the 2024 Wimbledon runner-up, who made 26 unforced errors and hit just eight winners.

Kostyuk raised her hands and dropped to her knees when she converted her second match point on what was her debut appearance on Centre Court at the All England Club.

"I was flabbergasted by this entrance and everything inside," she said in an on-court interview. "I was like, 'Wow', I need one day to recover from what I saw. ... I was on this court as (a) spectator once nine years ago watching Roger (Federer)."

The 21-year-old Noskova will play in her maiden Grand Slam semifinal after being strong on her serve in her match against 25th seed Mertens.

Noskova won all 11 of her service games against Mertens, the first time she was not broken this tournament.

"I was as a little bit nervous before the match," said Noskova, "Usually when its really, really important for me and I'm putting a little bit of pressure on myself, that's when I play the best."

The other women's semifinal features seventh-seeded Coco Gauff against No. 10 Karolina Muchova, who like Noskova is from the Czech Republic.
