Free State Crinums finish group stage unbeaten

Free State Crinums completed the Telkom Netball League group stages without defeat following their latest win over Gauteng Golden Fireballs, and assistant coach Sne Mdletshe says despite the win there were moments of inconsistency.

The Free State side squared off against Fireballs in their final group stage match - winning 47-37 in division 1.

Speaking after the match Mdletshe said she is nonetheless happy with the performance of the team.

“We stuck to the game plan, but I think there were a few moments of inconsistencies, stuff that we need to work on. Overall, happy with the performance and I think the team did well,” said Mdletshe.

Mdletshe said working together as a unit has been the greatest success this campaign.

“I think the biggest thing is working together as a unit. We work together on attack and we work together on defence, and that’s the one thing that is keeping us there because when we lose a ball, the attacker starts the defence.”

“That’s something that when that ball comes down, by the time it gets to their attackers, they’re already tired because they’ve been grinding through it. We’re forever just helping with the attack and everyone attacks together.”

On their next test against Gauteng Jaguars in the semi-final, Mdletshe said they need to sit and work towards the match against the Pretoria-based outfit.
