Brisbane International: Aryna Sabalenka to face Elena Rybakina in the final

Aryna Sabalenka has set up a final showdown with Elena Rybakina at the Brisbane International.

The big-hitting pair have played seven times before, including in last year's Australian Open final, where Sabalenka fought back from a set down to win.

The two top seeds in Brisbane have been in fine form and were comprehensive winners on Saturday, with Sabalenka defeating fellow Belarusian Victoria Azarenka 6-2 6-4 after Rybakina had seen off Czech teenager Linda Noskova 6-3 6-2.

"Let's just say it's going to be great battle as always," said Sabalenka. "Always great matches against Elena. I think we're both serving really well. We're both playing really super aggressive tennis. I think that's why all the matches are pretty tight."

It will also be a battle of the top two seeds in the men's final, where Holger Rune will take on Grigor Dimitrov.

Dimitrov ended the run of Australian Jordan Thompson, who beat Rafael Nadal on Friday, with a 6-3 7-5 triumph while Rune saw off Russian Roman Safiullin 6-4 7-6 (0).

Meanwhile, the United Cup final will be between Poland and Germany.

Poland continued their dominant form in the mixed international team competition with a 3-0 victory over France, although Iga Swiatek had to come from a set down to defeat Caroline Garcia.

Germany then broke home hearts with a nail-biting 2-1 victory over Australia in Sydney.

Angelique Kerber secured the first singles win of her comeback against Ajla Tomljanovic but Alex De Minaur battled from a set down to see off Alexander Zverev before Zverev and Laura Siegemund saved two match points to claim the crucial doubles 15-13 in a deciding tie-break.

De Minaur's victory means he becomes the first Australian man since Lleyton Hewitt to reach the top 10.

Elsewhere, Britain's Harriet Dart was unable to claim the biggest title of her career, losing out to Nuria Parrizas Diaz in the final of the WTA 125 event in Canberra, but Katie Boulter is through to the final round of qualifying at the Adelaide International.
