BAL play-offs spot within reach after MBB bag back-to-back wins

MBB started off their campaign with defeats to Alahli Tripoli and hosts Amée Patriotique Rwandaise, before avenging that defeat with 94-88 win last night, after getting their first win against Nairobi City Thunder earlier in the week. 

The two wins see the South African representatives keep alive their hopes of qualifying for the play-offs in Pretoria next month, and Vincent feels his players are slowly finding their rhythm.

"I would just say growth – our team has grown. When you put new guys together, even when they're very talented, it takes time to build chemistry and to get to know each other," said Vincent.

"Now our guys have gotten to the point where they play together, joke together, the bonding has really been happening, and we can see it on the floor – guys are communicating, covering for each other, looking for each other.

"And that's what's making us a stronger team, so I think [given] where we are today, in the next game we want to play a little bit better, and our goal is to keep on getting better every time we play."

MBB are now just one win away from qualifying for the play-offs, with their remaining Nile Conference matches against Nairobi City Thunder on Saturday and Alahli Tripoli on Sunday.

Vincent was full of praise for 21-year-old centre David Craig, who contributed immensely with nine points, two assists and 10 rebounds.

"Man, I'm very excited with David Craig – one thing you can't just give a player is 7'2" in height, so he's a big kid, he's very eager to get better and he's very motivated," added Vincent.

"And today he really helped us on the offensive boards, we've been really hurting in that area, but today he boxed out and I thought he did a good job defensively, and he scored, so he almost had a double-double.

"He had nine points and 10 rebounds, and if we can get that kind of production out of David, it's really going to help the team."
