Amajita one match away from AFCON

The South African men™s national U20 team, are one game away from qualifying for the U20 African Cup of Nations in Cairo next year, after finishing on top of Group of C following a convincing 4 - 0 drubbing of Comoros at the AFCON/COSAFA qualifiers played at the Mavuso stadium, Eswatini yesterday.

Coming to the game against Comoros, Amajita, who had conceded four goals in the two previous matches needed to score goals and hope for the results to go their way. They had lost 2-0 to Malawi and beat Namibia 5-2 in the second match.

With Amajita, Malawi and Comoros all finishing on six points at the top, South Africa advanced by virtue of the better head-to-head record among the three teams.

Head coach Vela Khumalo now believes that they have got what it takes to topple defending champions Mozambique today and qualify for the final and the AFCON.

œI think we need to go back again and do our homework around Mozambique. I have not seen any clip around them and even though I was well aware if we win here we are going to play Mozambique. It™s a working progress and I think we [are] gaining the momentum as the tournament goes and I™m happy with how we are doing it, Khumalo explained.

œIn this case it™s more of playing normal football with intention of winning, unlike where we chase for goals, where you are thinking let™s score more goals whichever way they come let™s score more goals but in this case we prepared thoroughly so we still prepare thoroughly and take the game to them and see how it goes, I think we are up for the challenge.
