Information gathered by the public broadcaster reveals that Larsen is prepared to walk away from rookies Magesi to return to KZN, where he has previous coached Golden Arrows and Maritzburg United.

The proposal being put forward at the moment is for Larsen to work closely with Vilakazi, who was roped in by the club two months ago as the reserve team coach, after his parting of ways with Richards Bay.

AmaZulu return to action next weekend in the opening round of the Carling Knockout, which launches in Johannesburg on Tuesday, and the hierarchy are desperate to confirm a head coach before then.

Siboniso Vilakazi, who served as second assistant to Martin, has been taking charge of the training sessions since the Spanish coach's sacking.

Meanwhile, Middendorp remains an option should the current proposal fall through, but he too would first need to part from Spurs, who were relegated to the Motsepe Foundation Championship at the end of last season.
