As reported by SABC Sport, Tinkler confirmed to the media in Cape Town on Sunday after their 2-1 defeat to Kaizer Chiefs in the MTN8 that Kutumela had joined them for a season.
The two previously worked together at Maritzburg United between 2019 and 2020, and Tinkler believes the 30-year-old will relieve some of the pressure off star man Khanyisa Mayo.
"We feel we need a little bit more depth and a little bit more opportunity or someone who has goal scoring attributes and someone I've worked with before. So, obviously, we are very, very happy to bring him because he will just give an added number," Tinkler said.
After Mayo last season finished as the joint-top scorer in the league with 12 goals, the spotlight has been on him to continue firing this season, but Tinkler says the whole attack has to improve and not only the striker.
"The finishing, I think that's the most obvious. Like I said, Mayo, normally in training we'll be burying that but in the game, the pressure etcetera. We are missing those chances and we've gotta get better at that. Collectively, not only pressure on Mayo, everyone must get better."
