T20 World Cup: Pakistan and New Zealand share points after rain in Colombo

The T20 World Cup Super Eights got off to a damp after the clash between Pakistan and New Zealand in Colombo was abandoned without a ball being bowled due to heavy rain.

Both teams will get a point apiece from the contest after Pakistan had won the toss and opted to bat before the rain came and did not relent.

Pakistan and the Black Caps will now be under pressure in the group with England taking on co-hosts Sri Lanka on Sunday.

The top two team will make the semifinals with Pakistan next taking on England in Pallekele on Tuesday.

The Kiwis will now prepare for their fixture against Sri Lanka in Colombo on Thursday.

The other Super Eights group in the tournament also kicks off Sunday when India play South Africa in Ahmedabad, with Zimbabwe and West Indies competing on Monday.
