Nathan Ellis stars with the ball as Australia level ODI series in Pakistan

Nathan Ellis took four wickets as Australia defended a target 232 to beat Pakistan by 41 runs in the second ODI in Lahore as the visitors levelled the three-match series with one game left to play.

Ellis was effective with his seamers to finish with figures of 4-33 in nine overs as Pakistan made a mess of the run-chase to be bowled out for 190 in 44 overs.

The hosts slipped to 58-5 in pursuit of the target with Ellis taking a couple of early wickets, including that of Pakistan kingpin Babar Azam for just 16.

With the game looking like a forgone conclusion at that stage, Shadab Khan, batting at number 7, played a defiant knock of 71 and received good support from Arafat Minhas with 33 to give Pakistan a sniff.

Ellis though returned to trap Minhas lbw as the tourists wrapped up the contest and made sure the series will have a decider at the same venue on Thursday.

Australia had earlier reached a total of 231-9 in their 50 overs after being sent in to bat after skipper Josh Inglis had lost the toss.

Cameron Green top-scored with 53 while Inglis chipped in with 51 and Matt Renshaw contributed a run-a-ball 43 to set the game up in the visitors favour.
