England call up uncapped Aneurin Donald for T20I home series against Sri Lanka

The 29-year-old top-order batter had an outstanding domestic T20 Blast campaign with Derbyshire and caught England head coach Brendon McCullum's eye when he top-scored for Trent Rockets in last month's Hundred final.

Sussex seamer Henry Crocombe is also in line for an international debut after being selected in the ODI squad for the series that will follow the T20Is.

Phil Salt is one of three England white-ball regulars who will miss the series due to injury, along with Jacob Bethell (knee) and Sam Curran (groin).

England selector Marcus North said: "Aneurin Donald and Henry Crocombe are two promising players who have earned their places on the back of impressive performances in domestic cricket.

"Aneurin has had an exceptional season for Derbyshire in the Vitality Blast and also with Trent Rockets in the Hundred while Henry is a player we have had an eye on all summer."

The first of the three T20Is will take place in Southampton on 15 September.
