Australia crush West Indies by 159 runs in first Test in Barbados

The tourists sealed the result with two full days to spare after rolling the hosts in the evening session of Day 3.

Set a target of 301 for victory, the West Indies appeared briefly steady at 47-1, thanks to openers John Campbell and Keacy Carty.

However, that promising start unravelled quickly as Josh Hazlewood tore through the middle order, claiming 4 wickets for just 9 runs during a devastating spell. He finished with figures of 5 for 43, removing Campbell, King, Chase, Carty, and Warrican.

Mitchell Starc had earlier set the tone by dismissing West Indies skipper Kraigg Brathwaite in his opening over.

Cameron Green and Sam Konstas contributed in the field with sharp catches to remove Brandon King - out for a golden duck - and Roston Chase, respectively.

Nathan Lyon applied the final touches, taking two wickets in the final over to bowl West Indies out and secure Australia's emphatic win.

Earlier in the day, Australia resumed their second innings on 92-4 and added a crucial 310 runs overall.

Alex Carey top-scored with a composed 65, while Travis Head (61) and Beau Webster (63) offered solid support.

Shamar Joseph stood out for the hosts, claiming 5-87 with the ball and later smashing a quickfire 44 from just 22 balls - including four sixes - in a spirited but futile effort.

Justin Greaves added an unbeaten 38, but West Indies ultimately crumbled in their chase, giving Australia a 1-0 lead in the series with a dominant all-round display.
