TS Galaxy boss confirms Makgalwa returning to Sundowns

TS Galaxy chairman Tim Sukazi confirmed to SABC Sport that striker Keletso Makgalwa’s loan spell with The Rockets has been cut short and he will be returning to his parent club Mamelodi Sundowns.

“Unfortunately for us, and maybe for him as well, it has proven to be a bit of a struggle. I think he has been afforded ample opportunities. We have already presented to his mother club Sundowns to say this is the situation and it doesn’t help for him to sit here on a loan basis when he is not playing,” Sukazi, speaking from Turkey where he is with the rest of the squad on a milestone mid-season trip, explained.

“He was here to help the club and himself. But then the situation doesn’t seem to be working for both parties. The player also said that if he doesn’t play, as it is currently the case, he would want to be released because he has other clubs that are interested in his services. I think that’s what will happen.”

Makgalwa, 25, was promoted to Downs senior team by then coach Pitso Mosimane five years ago but has since spent time elsewhere on loan, TS Galaxy being the third club to bring him on board temporarily.

The former junior international has also had a stint at Maritzburg United cut short during the 2018/19 season, where he returned to Chloorkop after just six months.

Makgalwa was signed by Swallows FC on a 12-months long contract in the previous campaign, but the Dube Birds did not retain his services.

“I can’t talk that much about him as a person because I interact mostly with the players when I see them at the training grounds or matches. I have not had any complaints really about his behaviour, I’d be lying.

“I don’t know what kind of life he lives. But I always say to the players that the life you live has a way of showing itself in your performance…but that’s not always the case, although it is most of the time. I would like to think in his case it’s a performance matter. He is not playing, so he is not helping the club’, Sukazi concluded.
